A message from Rotary Club of Marina del Rey President Nancy Voss
The Rotary Club of Marina del Rey hosted its third annual Sunset Sail, “Dusk & Diamonds,” on September 17 aboard FantaSea One. The sold-out evening brought together 160 guests, including community members, fellow Rotarians, yacht club members, and County and City representatives, for a night of sailing, music, and celebration on the water.
The event raised more than $100,000, the club’s strongest fundraising result to date. Proceeds support the Boys & Girls Club of San Gabriel Valley youth sailing program and other organizations that bring young people from underserved communities onto the water.
Guests enjoyed live music from the Brent George Band, with Conor Oakes serving as master of ceremonies. Larry and Kim Turner sponsored the evening’s photo booth.
Honoring Three Who Shaped the Marina
- Gary Jones of LA County Beaches & Harbors was named the Dusk & Diamonds Honoree and an Honorary Member of the club.
- Tony Palermo was recognized as the club’s Founding Honorary Member and “Marina’s Own.”
- Bill Stump received the Commodore’s Award.
In Their Words
“Seeing 160 people come together on the water for our young people was unforgettable. Every dollar raised helps a child who may never have set foot on a boat discover sailing, confidence, and the beauty of our coastline. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, our honorees, and everyone who made this our most successful Sunset Sail yet.”
Nancy Voss, President, Rotary Club of Marina del Rey
“This event is a true team effort. Our members, sponsors, and volunteers poured their hearts into this night, and the result speaks for itself. We’re already looking forward to next year.”
Mary February, Fundraising Director and Event Chair
“I am truly overwhelmed by the generosity and enthusiasm demonstrated by our Marina community. I am especially proud to see our lessees come together in support of the Rotary Club and its commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for youth to experience and participate in water sports. This event was a wonderful reflection of what can happen when our community comes together with a shared purpose. We are grateful to everyone who contributed their time, resources, and support to help make these opportunities possible for young people in the Marina.”
